Art Diary #1: Chinese Gragon and Phoneix Bird
I have found the Chinese dragon and Phoenix bird photos from the Image Google today. The dragon and phoenix bird are a symbol of wisdom, power, and luck in Chinese culture. Dragons and phoenix bird have long been a symbol in Chinese folklore and art. Temples and shrines have been built to honor them. Through the symbol of the dragon, many Chinese see divine attributes that they aspire to themselves. In fact, the dragon and phoenix bird are held in reverence and respect in Chinese culture. For example, people had controlled by feudalist in feudalistic period since emperor and empress would image themselves as dragon and phoenix bird. However, the feudalistic people image the Chinese dragon and phoenix controlled the rain, rivers, lakes, sea…etc. They can ward off wandering evil spirits, protect the innocent, and bestow safety unto all. They fly in the sky among clouds. Most pictures of dragons show them playing with a flaming pearl. I am very regretting that Chinese admitted dragon and phoenix bird in the feudalistic period. Who has seen the real dragons or phoenix bird in the world? However, dragon and phoenix bird are mysterious.

Wilson,
I know that the dragon and the phoenix are important symbols in China, so I wonder what that means for art. I assume artists represent these symbols but whne they do what is important- what makes these depictions art? Keep going with your diary!
I just know a little about the legend of the phoenix and the thing that I like is that it come alive from its ashes. As artist do fight against the bad moments and come back to live and put it in colors
